Private Label vs OEM / ODM Ceramic Petware
The terms overlap in everyday sourcing, but they describe different levels of product development. Choosing the right route can save time and prevent unnecessary tooling cost.
Private label
A private-label project usually starts from an existing product form and changes the commercial identity: glaze color, logo or text, packaging, inserts and retail presentation. It is often the fastest route for a brand that wants a differentiated ceramic product without creating a completely new form.
OEM
OEM production uses an agreed product specification for the buyer. The form may already exist or be adapted, but the key point is that the production follows the confirmed buyer specification.
ODM / development
ODM-style work goes further into product development. It may involve selected dimension changes, form development, molds, sample iterations and additional approval steps. Development cost, ownership and MOQ should be agreed before the work starts.
