Ceramic Cups and Mugs: From Shape to a Production Brief
A successful drinkware brief connects the intended customer, the way the cup will be used and the details that make a collection recognisable. Start with the form and intended use, then review the production specification.
Define the drinking experience
Share the desired capacity, approximate dimensions, handle preference and reference images. An espresso cup, everyday mug and hospitality cup have different priorities. Published model data is a starting point; requested changes need a feasibility review.
Develop a coherent collection
Consider which forms, glaze directions and branding details should work together. Specify whether saucers, matching plates, gift packaging or replacement orders are part of the project. These decisions help shape sampling and quotations.
Approve a model-specific specification
Confirm dimensions, capacity, finish, logo placement and packing against an agreed sample or written specification. Food-contact documentation and care claims must relate to the actual product and target market; they should never be assumed for every model.
